(These guidelines replace our earlier ones from 19th December 2020.)
Due to COVID-19 rules, our Sunday services run from 11 AM – 12:10 PM.
VERY IMPORTANT FOR THOSE COMING BY TAXI OR OTHER SCHEDULED TRANSPORTATION: PLEASE MAKE PLANS TO BE PICKED UP JUST AFTER 12:10 PM.
When attending in person, please come early due to COVID-19
protocols.
NOTE: PLEASE review all of the guidelines below:
NEW: PTL! WE AGAIN HAVE 40 CHAIRS as per Gov. Hogan’s advisories of March 2021.
SSCOG Onsite Worship Guidelines
BEFORE COMING TO CHURCH
1) Assess yourself and others in your household (If you feel sick in any way, or have been exposed to someone who is sick, for everyone’s safety, please stay home)
2) Bring your own mask to church, (if you do not have a mask or forget yours one will be provided upon check before entering the church)
3) Under no circumstances will anyone be allowed to enter the church without a mask.
4) Please use the bathroom before coming to church. The bathroom will be used in case of emergencies only and you must clean up per the instructions provided immediately after use. Parents must accompany children to the bathroom.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN I ARRIVE AT CHURCH
1) You will be greeted in the parking lot by a parking attendant. Please park as directed by the parking attendant. You will be directed to a parking space and we ask that you wait in your car until directed to get out. This will allow for an orderly entrance into the sanctuary one family at a time.
2) The parking attendant will ask you to exit your car and make your way to a check in station at the entrance to the church. The check in attendant will take your temperature, ask some health related questions and provide a mask if you do not have one. If your temperature or the answers to the questions do not meet the guidelines for entry, you will be asked to return to your car and go home.
Temperature guidelines: Normal range 96.5 – 98.9
Questions
- Have you had a fever, cough, nausea, vomiting, abdominal discomfort, poor appetite, weight loss, and fatigue in the last 14 days?
- Have been around people with the above symptoms in the last 14 days?
- Have been around people with known COCID-19 illness?
- Have you travelled out of state and/or out of the country in the 14 days?
- Have you lost your sense of taste and smell?
Suggestion: Use of face shield for eye protection
3) Once cleared to enter the church, you will sanitize your hands and an usher will direct you to the first available seat that can accommodate your family. If chairs need to be rearranged, you will be asked to wait outside until the chairs can be arranged for your accommodations.
WHAT TO EXPECT IN THE SANCTUARY
1) You will notice several changes once you enter the sanctuary.
A) The cloth chairs have been replaced by metal chairs for ease of sanitizing. We now have 30 chairs in order to conform to the space requirements outlined by the county.
B) The fans will remain on during the entire service to keep air circulating throughout the sanctuary. (Please bring a sweater or hat if this may be an issue for you)
C) There is a HEPA filter running to assist with the exchange of air in the sanctuary
D) There is an air quality monitor in place to ensure the proper air quality is maintained
E) A plexiglass enclosure at the front of the podium to protect parishioners as the person behind the lectern may not have a mask at all times.
2) Some things in place that you may not notice.
A) Each chair has been sanitized in preparation for reopening.
B) Each hard surface and high touch point (door knobs, light switches, countertops, etc.) has been sanitized before and after each service.
3) You are expected to remain in your seat (or stand in your seated area) for the entirety of the service.
4) The worship leaders, shielded and isolated from the congregation, will be singing.
5) You may use appropriate and moderate bodily expressions.
6) There will be no Children’s Church until further notice. We encourage our youth to participate in Family Training Hour via WebEx on Wednesday night at 7:30
AFTER WORSHIP AND BENEDICTION
1) We ask that you remain seated until directed by an usher to leave your seats. We will be exiting through all available exits of the sanctuary so it may not be through the front door.
2) We ask that you not congregate in the vestibule or the parking lot after service. Please go directly to your car and leave the parking lot so other families may safely exit the premises
We understand that this is very different from how we are used to coming together, but this is necessary in our current environment. The measures put in place, while not permanent, will remain until further notice. The opening of the church is an exciting time; however, for those uncomfortable with returning, you can continue to worship with us virtually until you feel comfortable.
A Word from Bishop Rolle:
We understand that this is a difficult time for all, and we thank you for your co-operation until the pandemic has passed.
We do this as commanded by the Apostle Paul to be obedient to government authority:
Let every person be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those that exist have been instituted by God.
(Romans 13:1 ESV)
Remind them to be submissive to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready for every good work, (Titus 3:1 ESV)
